It is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, tetrahydrofuran, etc. It can deoxidize aldehyde ketone, acid, acid anhydride, ester, quinone and acyl chloride into alcohol, deoxidize nitrile into primary amine, halogenated hydrocarbon into hydrocarbon. However, it usually can't deoxidize carbon-carbon double bond.
