2-Mercaptoethanol is a transparent, colorle liquid with special smell, flammable, soluble in water and various organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers. The product can be used as the telome for the polymer production, such as polyacrylonitrile PVC, polyacrylate, and as polymerization catalyst, cro linking and resin curing agentsing in the sythesis proce of high molecular material for medicine and photochemical industries, and the auxiliary chemicals for rubber, textile and painting industries. It can also be used as metallic corrosion inhibitor and deactivator.
